A walk from Victoria Train Station to Piccadilly Train Station

This 1.5km walk starts at Victoria train/tram station, takes you  through the main shopping areas of Manchester and past the sites of  two terrorist attacks. It finishes at Piccadilly train/tram station. If you're in a hurry this is not the quickest way to get between the two stations but if you have a few hours, take your time, stop for something to eat and even take a detour to look at the street art in the Northern Quarter.  Manchester Victoria to Piccadilly (Google My Maps)  In 1830 the first passenger train service in the world ran between Manchester and Liverpool from what is now the site of the Science and Industry Museum in the Castlefield area of the city. A canal walk through the Urban Heritage Park of Castlefield Basin

This 1.5km circular walk starts at Deansgate Castlefield  Metrolink station and takes you by the Rochdale canal, the Castlefield Bowl and Liverpool Road station, the first passenger rail service in the world. It returns over the Bridgewater canal.  The walk is mostly traffic free but includes steps and some cobbled streets.  The walk around Castlefield Bowl (Google My Maps) From Deansgate Castlefield Metrolink station follow the exit sign marked "Way Out to Deansgate Castlefield and main line station".  Cross the bridge in front of you towards Deansgate Station. You can see the Rochdale canal on your right and a street sign for Deansgate. Just before you enter the station building there is a set of stairs on your left. Walk down these stairs and then the ramp to take you to ground level.  Turn left and cross Deansgate. A walk around New Islington and Ancoats

This walk takes you through the modern living spaces of New Islington Marina, an area still undergoing regeneration. The marina leads to Ancoats, an area dominated by historic brick mills from Manchester’s industrial past. These have recently been converted into sought after living space.  The walk is just over two kilometres, however there is plenty to explore in both areas and there are waterside cafes and bars along the way. Route through New Islington and Ancoats. (Google Maps) From Manchester take the Metrolink tram in the direction of Ashton. Leave the tram at New Islington (A) and walk towards the Chips building across the Ashton Canal.   Turn left in front of the Chips building.
